Season 11 - Second Level - Group B

It’s crunch time as we head into the final month of the 11th Correspondence League – with titles, promotions and relegations all set to be decided.

The final three rounds will all be played simultaneously from Saturday, and the beauty of the format means no promotions have yet been confirmed and the only relegations are down to withdrawals.

Here is how things stand in your group ahead of rounds seven, eight and nine. A reminder – if two players finish on the same score, the following tiebreaks will apply in this order:

#1: Points vs. tied participants
#2: Match wins
#3: Sonnerborn-Berger score against group (not calculated in these league tables).

I’ve tried to include the various tiebreaks in the tables.

Group B (tier 2)
1. mlvc P6 Pts 11
2. Pareyounet P5 Pts 9
--------------------------------------
3. LouGari P6 Pts 8
4. JamannChess P6 Pts 8
5. IAmMateCheckmate P4 Pts 6
6. meh_go999 P5 Pts 5
7. Summerbird P5 Pts 4
8. onaclov P6 Pts 2
--------------------------------------
9. rajuppi P5 Pts 1
10. variousfailures P6 Pts 0

Everything remains up for grabs in this extremely competitive group.

New entrant and surprise package mlvc leads the way with a valuable two-point advantage heading into the final month - but has a tough run-in with games against the top two seeds Pareyounet and IAmMateCheckmate, both of who maintain serious promotion ambitions of their own.

The latter of those challengers has two games still in progress which could see him rise form fifth right into the promotion mix, while both LouGari and JamannChess are well placed on eight points apiece.

In the bottom half, a number of timeouts has not helped variousfailires in their attempts to avoid a second successive relegation, while rajuppi has endured a second consecutive difficult season. But both players are still well in the mix as far as survival is concerned - onaclov (promoted to the second level last season) lies just a point above the drop zone while Summerbird and meh_go999 still need points to guarantee their places in the second tier.

As well as the big round eight top-of-the-table clash between Pareyounet and mlvc, other games to watch for at the top include JamannChess v Pareyounet, IAmMate v JamannChess, JamannChess v LouGari and mlvc v IAmMateCheckmate.

Relegation rivals will also face each other - fixtures to come include variousfailures v rajuppi, onaclov v variousfailures, rajuppi v Summerbird, meh_go999 v rajuppi and variousfailures v Summerbird.

Best of luck to all competitors in your final three games!
