What is your chess story?

Hello
I was just wondering how you guys started playing chess?

I am interested in how others got into playing chess!
I would love to hear some of your chess story!
I was sitting in my room on a computer with nothing to do. I decided to search a online chess website because I thought it would be fun to play a bit of chess (I had played a little bit of chess in the past, but not much at all). I found this and really liked it so I really haven't stopped playing since.
My father had a really beautiful chess set and board and I would always play with the pieces as a kid, then one day he decided to taught me the game and I have continued to play since.

I had some gap of 2-3 years that I quit playing because my father was tired of losing all the time (>:D) but then I discovered online chess, so here I am.
Nothing special, my father taught me when I was a kid, but I didn't really take it seriously at that time.
When i was 11 my friend was taught me chess. After 1 month i was beat him :D
Now i can defeat him 100 out of 100 games :P
I felt in love with one girl in our school and found out that she's WIM. We dated few weeks, but she ended it. Probably my rating was small.
5 year ago, my mother got sick with Alzheimer's desease. At that time, i used to take her to my aunt's house so she had someone similar to her to socialize and not get depressed. That afternoon hours sharing the tea with two elders soon became almost emotionally unbearable to me, so i looked for a good game to play in a old Nokia 5130 phone (only supported Java games) as a way to distract my mind as i made patient company for the two old ladies for long hours. The best game i could find for such limited platform was a chess game. At first i used to lose game after game, but it helped me to not get crazy hearing the same limited stories the old ladies were telling again and again.

So i think chess really helped me to not get crazy in that hard times. It helped me to get through that routine with little stress. I'm very grateful towards chess. And so am i towards old java apps for Nokia phones, and so am i towards Lichess since two years ago.

So i can say Lichess began a therapy for me (a very successful one, i think).
I'll just start from the point that I took chess more seriously, okay? It starts in 2009, the 'cool kids' at my school liked to play chess (believe it or not) and I wanted to beat them, so I googled for an online chess website and here I am! :-D
My parents sent me to a beginner's chess lesson one day, i thought i would hate it but i fell in love with chess. My one true passion!
