Lost vs king-only

Isnt moving the pawn a solution? Either it is captured and lichess declares a draw or it is not and you win.
if moving the pawn is a solution, you are saying wasting time is a solution.

My example is drawn quickly but if you are prepared to waste even 1 move, then

a) you are you also prepared to waste 15 moves in other endings only to stalemate your opponent who is stretching time and doesnt even capture your pawn when he can;
Or b) you distinguish between 1 move not being a waste of time and 15 times not wasting your time, suddenly is wasting your time.
And after that, we're going to install a button "force win" when the coputer evaluates the position +5 or more, in order to avoid you losing time against assholes who don't resign ;)
#13 Of course not. A simple solution is to make the "resign" button force a draw when your opponent does not have enough checkmating material left. This means that it is impossible for your opponent to win. No computer analysis needed here.
I don't understand the "flaw" the game isn't over until there is a forced draw (repeition of position 3 times, stalemate, 50 moves without a pawn move or capture, insufficient material for either side to reach checkmate) or checkmate, and in the case of timed games the game is over when one player flags on time. Players can of course agree to a draw before those conditions are met or one player can resign the game at any time. These are the rules of chess.

In any position that has not reached said position, while it may be impossible to lose, it's never really impossible to draw or stalemate and depending on the amount of time left it may be worthwhile to push for a win on time. If you don't enjoy finishing a game in which a player pushes their lone king around for several moves trying to win on time, play with increment. If a player is pushing their king around in an increment game and refuses a draw, then at that point yes probably just resign the game and block them. But to say that because you didn't want to finish a game or be bothered to wait an extra 2-3 seconds to push a pawn and resolve the game as a forced draw is hardly a flaw with lichess but rather your own impatience.

When you started the game you made an implicit agreement to the time of the game and that the game would be completed under the rules of chess. Nothing in the rules says the player can't fight to the bitter end, so you have an option to offer a draw, complete the game, or resign - and you chose resign rather than "waste time" so...idk, the system seems to be working 100% as it is expected to work from what I see. Where's this flaw again? I still don't see one. It's how chess works everywhere else in the world and internet.
Since people keep bringing up chess rules (which really have nothing to do with the issue): The rules of chess allow you to claim a draw if your opponent has only a king.

Fenris, the problem isnt being flagged, the problem is playing futile moves just because there is no other way to end the game. If you dont care about rating, you can resign. Your suggestion to play with increment only increases the time wasted on a futile game.
@Fenris. Why post irrelevant chess rules. The only relevent chess rule is

"you can claim a draw when your opponent has no material left to checkmate".

This chess rule is supported everywhere else in the world and internet, except here. Where the hell have you been playing.

Also calling TriggerHappy impatient is really funny considering he has been explaining his trivial case to idiots like you.
The 'resign' button should also become 'force draw' when you have one of these:
* KQ vs. KN
* KQ vs. KB
* KR vs. KB
And in my opinion (but that actually disagrees with the rules of chess) also with Kp vs. KB or KN
I'm not 100% sure what the problem is here, but I'm assuming that it has something to do with the other player letting the time run out?

If the issue is that you didn't have enough time to make a move and let your opponent not take the pawn, and then your time runs out... you could play longer games.

If the issue is that there is too much time and your opponent is going to try to make you sit there forever instead of just drawing the game like a decent person... I always block players like that right after.
That's not the problem, grimus. Read the initial post and click the link.
